TEARS fell freely as Marianhill Catholic Primary School students in Wau hugged and showered trainee Balob Teachers' College students with presents in an emotional farewell after four weeks of training.
Many mothers who turned up to witness the occasion also shed tears upon witnessing the event unfolding before their eyes.
It was an emotional moment for everyone including board chairman Petrus Marika,deputy town mayor Norm Baupu,deputy head teacher Steven Raino and parent James Gregory who witnessed the occasion
Marika thanked the student teachers and their supervisor Martin Surab for choosing Marianhill to undertake their four weeks of training.
"Our school is priviledged to have 19 of you trainee teachers to undertake your training here," he said.
"We hope you have enjoyed your four weeks of training and we look forward to welcome you back to teach at our school after you complete your training."
Baupu also thanked the student teachers.
He said the country could not develop without teachers as they played an important role in educating the human resource.
Surab thanked head teacher Francis Tokus and his teachers for being very helpful and supportive to the 19 student teachers during their four weeks of training.
He said they had learned a lot from teachers at the school.
Tokus was very thankful to the trainee teachers.
He said they fitted in well in all the classes .
Tokus said the trainee teachers taught grade four classes as their teacher had left the school.
Nineteen student teachers undertook their training at Marianhill while another 10 did their training at Kaisenik Primary School in Wau Rural.
That was my team. Balob trainees to Mariannhil Catholic Primary School in Wau and it was a heart breaking moment for me and my team because we really enjoyed our one month practice teaching up in Wau with our lecturer Mr Surab. A beautiful place with friendly people and children. I will still go back to that school when I graduate🎓
